You may have heard the latest information from 3M® that they will exit from the manufacturing of cleaning solvents in the near future. Find out how this may affect you below…
What is the update from 3M®?
3M® have announced that they are withdrawing from the fluorinated solvents market. 3M® announces exit from fluorinated solvent market.
In essence they will stop manufacturing the Novec HFE materials (commonly used solvent cleaning chemical range) by the end of 2025. They also have stated in a letter sent to all their customer that they cannot guarantee supply and that current users should be looking at alternatives as quickly as possible.
I use Chemours cleaning chemicals am I affected by this announcement?
The Chemours range of speciality chemicals do not contain any 3M® materials and this announcement from 3M® will not affect the ongoing supply of the Opteon range of materials.
What do I need to do now?
Nothing, supply of the Opteon materials are secure for the forceable future however if you have any questions around these materials or the 3M® announcement we are more than pleased to discuss this with you further.
